Programs for Education by a Republican Organization
FCRW Annual Scholarship Application
The Fayette County Republican Women are very pleased to offer a scholarship opportunity to one college-bound, graduating senior girl from each high school in Fayette County. An $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a girl who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in her school and community activities; and conservative values and goals. A total of five scholarships will be given.
The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or educational institution. Four-year colleges, two-year colleges, or vocational school programs will be eligible.
The applicant must be a graduating senior girl who is a resident of Fayette County and attends one of the following: Round Top-Carmine High School, Fayetteville High School, Flatonia High School, Schulenburg High School, or La Grange High School. FCRW members’ friends and family are not prohibited from applying.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants will be evaluated based on their leadership activities in local organizations, conservative values and goals, recommendations from teachers and community leaders, and an essay written by the applicant.
Please note: Because the short answer essay questions on our application are reflective of the causes and principles for which our organization stands, we can not accept or consider the substitution of a generic scholarship application.
Application forms are available from the high school counselors or the above link. Detailed criteria and instructions are included in the application cover sheet.
Applications must be mailed to:
FCRW, P.O. Box 744,
La Grange, TX, 78945.
Attention: Carole Bourlon, Scholarship Chair.
All original applications must be postmarked by April 15.
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
For questions, contact Carole Bourlon at (979) 247-4050
or via email: email@example.com
PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship recipients must provide contact information for the school they will be attending and their student ID #, if applicable, to FCRW by October 31, 2020 or forfeit the scholarship monies.

Each fall FCRW gives an encyclopedic dictionary to each 3rd grader in Fayette County. These are more than dictionaries, as they also include biographies on the U.S. Presidents, our Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and Amendments, a Civics lesson, information on our 50 states, astrology, planets, other countries, braille, sign language, and much more.
Distribution includes 7 public and private schools and 1 homeschool organization: St. Rose Catholic, Schulenburg; Sacred Heart Catholic, La Grange; Hermes Elementary, LG; Fayetteville ISD; Flatonia ISD; Schulenburg ISD; Round Top/Carmine Elementary; and Greater Vision Team School (Homeschool organization) near LG. More than 300 students and 20 teachers receive these dictionaries each year.
Thanks to former Literacy Chairpersons, Stephanie Steinhauser, Barbara Appelt, Sherrie Tolbert, for taking the time to review the many book choices to make the annual selections, coordinating with the libraries and schools, and making these presentations!
