About this event
Join us on April 16th for our General Meeting featuring our State Board of Education Representative, Tom Maynard, Trustee, SBOE District 10.

The product of a broken home, Tom Maynard rose above humble circumstances, growing up at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, northwest of Amarillo, and worked his way through Texas Tech University where he earned his degree and teacher certification.
Tom has been actively engaged in education as a parent, teacher, school board trustee and non-profit executive for more than 30 years. For 13 years, Tom worked in career and technical education as an agricultural science teacher and earned national recognition for innovative programs and student achievement. Maynard also served as and executive director for the Texas FFA Association for 17 years, which is the nation's largest state career and technical student organization with an overall membership of more that 118,000 students on more than 1,000 Texas campuses.
Tom is a member of the State Board of Education (SBOE), representing nearly 1.9 million Texans in District 10. As a member of the SBOE, Maynard has served as chair of the Committee on Instruction and is currently chairman of the Permanent School Fund Corporation Board of Directors and the Committee on School Finance/Permanent School Fund. He also served on the board's AD Hoc Committee on the Long-Range Plan for Public Education and the Long-Range Steering Commmittee.
Tom Maynard is married to Freda, and they have five children and nine grandchildren. They reside in Williamson County. He and Freda operate a real estate appraisal firm and a small purebred livestock operation that leverages reproductive technologies.
